The Trinity Church is located at Broadway and Wall Street. It is one of the oldest congregations in the area, although the current building is the third to stand on the very same spot. The lot was actually granted to the Episcopal Church way back in 1697 by King William III. The current church building was designed by William Upjohn, also known for his work in leading the American Neo-Gothic architecture movement.
Before skyscrapers and commercial buildings dominated the New York City Skyline, Trinity Church was – for many years - the highest point in the City. Trinity church tower contains no less than twenty-three church bells, the heaviest of which weighs well over one ton. One of the many reasons people visit Trinity Church is to listen to its weekly music program, where well-known musicians as well as up-and-coming artists perform during the lunch hour.
